Thangadzi River Conservancy

The Thangadzi River Conservancy, on our Kaombe Sugar Estate, is home to the Shire Valley Conservation operation, which protects one of Malawi’s last remaining riparian forests and wildlife including buffalo, giraffe, pangolin, waterbuck, eland, kudu, and civet.

Thangadzi Lodge

Nestled within the endangered riparian forests of the Shire Valley Conservancy, Thangadzi Lodge offers unique safari experiences across the Thangadzi River Sanctuary and Wildlife Reserve, as well as the Elephant Marsh - a Ramsar-certified wetland renowned for its exceptional birdlife and natural beauty.

Elephant Marsh

Elephant Marsh is a wetland and an officially recognized Ramsar Site under the UNESCO Ramsar Convention. Its conservation depends on providing local communities with alternative livelihoods and energy sources that reduce land-use encroachment, overfishing, and deforestation.

Mwabvi Wildlife Reserve

An area of outstanding beauty, Mwabvi Wildlife Reserve is defined by its miombo and montane woodlands, sandstone outcrops, vleis, and rugged hilly terrain. Once a jewel of Malawi's natural heritage - formerly home to the big five (including black rhino) - Agricane aims to restore it to its former glory.
