About Us
Where It All Began
In 1996, Agricane was founded by a group of seasoned agricultural specialists, each with over 12 years of experience in large-scale farming operations across Southern Africa. Recognizing the need for practical agricultural knowledge transfer in rural Africa, they set out to create a company that would meet these demands.
Since its inception, Agricane has grown steadily, expanding its reach across more than 20 African countries and establishing subsidiaries in Zimbabwe, Malawi, South Africa, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, and Mozambique. With expertise in irrigated agriculture, small-grower development, and land-use planning, Agricane has developed over 40,000 hectares of land for crops like sugarcane, rice, alfalfa, and row crops. We have collaborated with and are accredited vendors for the EU, World Bank, AfDB, and many other development finance institutions (DFIs).
Through continuous innovation, new skills, and advanced technologies, Agricane remains at the forefront of agricultural development in Africa, transforming landscapes and empowering communities.
Who We Are
At Agricane Limited, our core team is composed of highly experienced professionals dedicated to delivering exceptional agricultural services. Supporting them is a permanent technical and administrative staff of around 20, stationed across various countries, along with 35 to 50 contract staff employed on projects throughout the continent.
A key factor in our success is that many of our senior team members have hands-on management experience in operating estates and farms. This enables them to offer practical, actionable advice and guidance for the Operations and Maintenance of any agricultural enterprise.
