Project Overview
DVRL contracted the Agricane team to undertake a holistic food-based agricultural development study to utilise the people, soil and water resources of the Lurio River basin in Northern Mozambique. This includes a complete Infrastructural irrigation plan for 150,000ha, a large dam and canal system, Cropping analysis, Market analysis, Processing Concept and Financial study.

Services Provided
Reviewed the hydrology and conceptually designed a Dam (with hydropower) and canal system to deliver 150,000ha of irrigation for a full range of perennial and row crops
Assessed the project area of 700,000ha for the optimal soils
Undertaken a cropping and livestock analysis with Gross Margins and Market assessment
Conceptually designed and costed the complete infrastructural requirements, including roads, power supplies, community developments
Provided a financial model for the infrastructural development
Assisted in the securing of Commercial & Institutional Investments for financing of the infrastructure and a complete range of farming opportunities.
