Phokera Clean Water Pipeline

The Phokera Clean Water Pipeline Programme provides reliable access to safe water through engineered pipeline networks that improve health, reduce time spent collecting water, and support long-term community wellbeing.

Access to clean and reliable water remains a major challenge for many communities in Malawi’s Lower Shire Valley. Working with community development committees and local leaders, Agricane has supported the design and construction of pipeline systems that bring safe water closer to homes, schools, healthcare facilities, and community centers. Identified and prioritized by communities themselves, these projects address genuine local needs and deliver lasting benefits.

The program combines community leadership with Agricane’s engineering expertise to develop practical, sustainable water-supply infrastructure. By extending pipeline networks and improving water access points, the projects help reduce waterborne disease risks, improve sanitation and hygiene, lessen the burden on women and children who often travel long distances to collect water, and create healthier and more productive communities. Delivered through the Kaombe Community Development Trust and Agricane’s matched-funding approach, the program forms part of a broader commitment to supporting education, healthcare, livelihoods, and community resilience across the Lower Shire Valley.
