Kaombe Community Development Trust

Sugarcane production that funds community-led development across the Lower Shire Valley.

The Kaombe Community Development Trust was established to ensure that the benefits of commercial agriculture are shared with surrounding communities. Through a community-led approach, the Trust works with local leaders and development committees to identify priorities, allocate resources, and support projects that address some of the region’s most pressing development challenges. By reinvesting agricultural revenues into community initiatives, the Trust helps strengthen local services, expand opportunities, and support long-term social and economic progress across the Lower Shire Valley.

Guided by community leaders and development committees, the Trust invests in education, healthcare, water access, infrastructure, vocational skills development, agricultural training, and livelihood initiatives that create lasting opportunities for future generations. This partnership combines community ownership with professional execution, helping ensure investments remain accountable, effective, and aligned to local needs.
