Ouro Verde community-led farm showcases Agricane’s expertise in developing sustainable agricultural enterprises that combine certified organic production, value-added processing, environmental stewardship, and increased income for communities.
Located in Cabo Delgado Province, Mozambique, Ouro Verde is a pioneering organic agriculture project developed in partnership with local communities. The project combines certified organic sugarcane production, cashew cultivation and processing, and value-added agricultural enterprises within a long-term development area of approximately 1,000 hectares. Through its focus on quality, sustainability, and market differentiation, Ouro Verde demonstrates how agricultural investments can generate both commercial returns and local development benefits.

Ouro Verde produces certified organic sugar and organically certified cashew products under the Cabo Caju brand, while pursuing additional opportunities in products such as dried mango, moringa, aloe vera, and medicinal alcohol. Community participation sits at the heart of the project, with a local producer cooperative receiving training, coaching, management support, agricultural inputs, and mechanization assistance. Cooperative members share directly in revenues from sugar and cashew production, creating sustainable income opportunities alongside employment and skills development. The project also works towards internationally recognized organic, fair trade, and food safety standards, helping position local agricultural products in premium export markets.
